2nd. Hard Drive

I have an SE440BX-2 IIDE ata33 when adding a 2nd.hard drive do I have to be careful abute the cable or will an ata66 or 100 cable be ok?

The drive will run at ATA33 speed so in theory an ATA33 cable would work. However, for safety you should probably use an ATA66 cable anyway... a problem you may find is that ATA33 sockets may have an extra pin that's missing on ATA66 sockets, so the ATA66 cable I bought wouldn't fit. I had to get a tiny drill bit and drill out a hole in the connector on the cable to fit it onto the motherboard. Another potential problem is that your BIOS may not support drives of more than 32GB: I had to do a BIOS upgrade to raise the limit to 137GB.

That done, I ran ATA66 and ATA100 drives on my BX motherboard for a long time with no problems.

Thanks for the info. According to intel as I currently run and IBM 10.1Gb HD then the bios should be ok up 10 137Gb.
