4 minute playback limit?

I'm hoping someone might have a straightforward answer to this. I'm trying to record a 1.8GB movie onto DV tape. Everything goes across fine but the playback stops after 4 minutes. I think this may be my harddrive or PC system as all the video card settings shouldn't restrict playback time. Has anyone had experience of this problem?

Windows 98, 450mhz, Pentium III, Intel 440BX Xhipset, Ultra DMA 20GB + 8.4GB HD. 256mb RAM.
Using DV500 video card (many problems!) and Premiere 5.1c edit software. Panasonic NX110 camcorder. Using miroDVTools to playback through.

i see that you don't have much luck with the dv500 either - you're not alone...

anyway, this may be linked in some way to the 2GB file size limit in FAT32 - but i can't be sure.

When you say win98 i hope you mean win98SE. If not then you will have problems with many things...

Windows98 I'm afraid. I guess from what you say I should consdier upgrading. Would Windows 2000 sort this out?
