Why is there no Pal 720p 25 fps preset in PP2?.If you set up a custom preset it wants to renderthe capture. There is one for NTSC but not pal.

Adobe don't support it yet.

That is why JVC HD100/HD101 customers received a free copy of Edius Pro 3.6

Not yet. http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/reghd.html
They are in the process , even the well known addon only works in 1.5 ( version 2 isn't ready yet from them either ) http://www.mainconcept.com/mpeg_pro.shtml

You can get 720 25p support in Premiere 2 through the CineForm Aspect HD plugin.

Hmm, must be missing something, surely can't be this easy...

File > New project

Load Preset - select HDV 720p

Custom Settings - change Timebase Settings from 29.97 to 30

No?

N o, it isn't that easy. Those settings are fine for our colonial cousins in the NTSC countries, but for us in PAL-land we need 50Hz. And the HD100 records at 25Hz, so the NLE needs to know that frames from the tape are duplicated. That's what the Cineform plugins do.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.
Camera settings documents are held by Daniel Browning and at the EBU
My book, 'Circles of Confusion' is available here.
Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.

Sorry, typo... I meant to say change from 29.97 to 25!

I made a new project this way in PPRo2 just as a quick test but of course don't have the JVC cam and didn't know the HD100 sends out duplicated frames.
