Hi, I have a DSR 390 and was thinking of changing the mic that came with the 390 to something a bit better. A mic that you attach and then forget about it, Let it look after the low and high noise itself.

Thanks in advance.

The DSR-390 seems to be a serious pro camera.

Therefore you need an equivalent mic. - that means around £1,000.

So, for a short gun, the MKH 60 would be the best option. A bit cheaper would be the MKH 416, but it's not as good. The MKH 418-S is like the 416 but will do MS stereo.

That's like askig for a camera that you attach and forget - let it sort out the lighting and focussing for itself.

Thanks John for you advice. I'll look into those model numbers.
