Out of curiosity - I googled, http://www.nomatica.com/video/grdvl767EN.htm
Easy!

As a disposable item they're fine. Most cheap miniDV cameras are the equally crap these days. Lots of purple fringing, terrible in low light etc.

In my experience JVC cameras are prone to audio beeps & pixelation - that said this is usually from people using the default 12bit audio, sometimes long play and or 2nd/3rd pass tapes!

JVC fixed earlier compatability issues (firewire used to be half measure) and seem to be OK on battery life now. Some of the more expensive JVCs I've seen have delivered decent images - but the 767 is in the DVL entry level range.

I'd always try to find a Sony for similar money - they cost a bit more but tend to deliver a bit more too.

Hope this helps.
