Batteries for the A1E ?

The problem is that many (possibly all) non-Sony batteries are rejected by the A1E even when they are advertised under the correct code number - in this case NP-FM50 NP-QM71D or NP-QM91D. Sometimes the seller states 'not compatible with the HVR-A1E' sometimes not. So if anyone has bought one of these (Sony sourced or not ) - at a reasonable price - which works and which can be recharged in the A1E please let me know.

Ahem. Please let us all know. This is something we need to be aware of.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.
Camera settings documents are held by Daniel Browning and at the EBU
My book, 'Circles of Confusion' is available here.
Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.

I 'm using Sony compatible NP-FM50 (£14.99 +£3.95 p.p. - per order) from 7dayshop.com (Guersey) - with TRV20E (NOT with AIE).
Did have one duff but no trouble replacing. Also look at Whittington posting - 'Chatter' - 25 Nov. 2005 - Sony Camcorder Replacement Batteries.

The problem of rejection of what appears at first sight to be the right battery seems to be more acute with Sony's HDV camcorders - perhaps because the camcorders themselves were reasonably priced...? There is a similar thread at dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=52597
