Hey everyone. I am 14 but very into movie making. I am making a documentary for a local scholarship project and am trying to get the best audio possible. I have a budget of around $300. I am thinking of getting a shotgun mic and using a boom pole for it, but if I do this what additional equipment would be required? Or is there another technique I could use? Thanks for the help!

I think a little more background would be helpful. Do you have an audio recorder that you plan to use? Do you have a camcorder with XLR inputs, anyone to help as a sound man or a mixer? What is it you plan to record - interviews, lectures, stage shows or orchestras?
