I need a battery for a Sony HVR-A1e camcorder. Is anyone having success with a replacement type ? Failing that which is the best place for a genuine Sony NP-QM71D and/or an NP-QM91D ? I don't relish paying Sony over £100.
Cheers

Probably worth tapping the battery number into ebay's search engine.

Try hawkwoods.com I got two batteries for the Z1E for £110 which included a single battery charger which can also be used in the car.

Thanks all but there is a complication. Tapping in the model number gives you plenty of replacement battery sellers but the A1E has a built in non Sony battery detector and is able to reject many - if not all - of them. I need someone, ideally an A1E user, who can vouch for a particular replacement battery not being rejected, or failing that, for a good deal on a genuine Sony product.

Why do Sony have to do so many silly thing like this? Maybe if their batteries were a fair price people would buy them. I have been looking for some genuine Sony batteries and ebay has quite a few. The only place that does genuine ones for cheap are sellers in China and I've always been a little cautious of them. We should all get a co op going! :)

Hi Mike

I have a non-Sony battery which won't work on my VX2000 so I phoned Hawkwoods re the non-compatibility of the batteries for the Sony Z1E and was assured that they had tested them and were guaranteed to work. Why don't you give them a call and ask about the A1?

I can certainly confirm the Hawk-woods batteries work on the Z1. Don't know about other cameras.

Thanks all.
Hawkwoods don't do replacements for the A1. According to Production Gear the Z1 and FX1 accept replacement batteries but the little A1 does not. Oh well grit teeth and pay Sony the money I suppose.
