Blackmagic designs has cleverly introduced what we think is a very interesting product

If you have noticed, some of the new HDV camcorders have the ability for HDMI output during filming before the video is compressed. This 249 dollar card allows you to connect and capture this uncompressed data stream.

At the same time Blackmagic has also seen that there is interest in a low cost HDMI live switching system, and with two of the Intensity cards in your mac OR SOON TO BE SUPPORTED WINDOWS xp this free software will allow for a two camera live switched HD production.

We think this will be a major step forward in the acceptability of HD, and has we have talked about before allowing users to get aournd the pro/cons of HDV and at a very cost effective level move up to HD

IF I were buying a new HD camcorder I would certainly look for one with HDMI connection
