I`m doing some work to help a school & have been given a DVD with some Cine Film on it. I`ve tried importing the .vob file into both Edius & Liquid without success. I then returned that disc & was given another one with just the .vob file. On both counts the file will play on a PC using Power DVD 8. I`ve tried using Mpeg Stream clip, Prisim Video File converter but all to no avail, what I get is either an error message saying failed to convert or a blue screen (not the PC but the file itself)
Other than getting back the playable DVD & ingesting that via my ADVC-55 I`m at a loss! I`ve never come across a vob file on a home produced DVD before that I couldn`t pull into the edit suite, anyone any ideas?

Re: Can`t Import DVD .vob File
Use Vob2Mpeg - link on my site - search for "can I edit my own DVD"..
replying via mobile - hence brief.

Re: Can`t Import DVD .vob File
Never know Mpegstreamclip not to open a .VOB. Did you use 'file > open'?
My next choice would be VLC player (free), opens anything and will convert to an editing format but not quite as straightforward as Mpegstreamclip.
What is the size of the .VOB? - Can you Dropbox it to me?

Re: Can`t Import DVD .vob File
Opened fine here in Mpegstreamclip. Have converted it to .dv and zipped it (500meg), going up to DBox now.

Scrub that - was going to take 5 hours! - New conversion to H264 (68meg) now going up to DB. If you want in any other codec let me know and I'll put it on a disk and post it.

Re: Can`t Import DVD .vob File
File recieved and many thanks Foxy. I had tried Mpegstream clip without success, tried converting to an .avi then H264 so I can`t understand why I failed but once again many thanks! Shows the power of these forums together with the helpfulness of most of the members.
