My SM cards don't, sorry, WON'T work in my Fujifim Finepix 4900 zoom and keep coming up on the display as "CARD ERROR" I have tried formatting them on both the camera and PC, also Scandisk (which finds no errors!) thro' my USB card reader, but as yet no success. My wife is now saying "why don't we just get a normal one??!!" as I/we are due to visit the (apparently) beautiful island of Menorca in eight days time, so there is a certain amount of urgency. By the way, when I say "normal" I'm talking about the camera, but you knew that didn't you ??? Your help would be much appreciated, Thanks Folks, Chris W

I've done a little research for you on errors with the Finepix 4900 due to you're situation deadline. I've come up with zip.
It's probaly not a compatibility issue as there is no info out there on reported errors.
The best thing you can do is get yourself down to Jessops with your camera. And ask can you try a CF card in your camera and see if it works. If it doesn't you've got a problem with your camera, if it does, there is a compatibility issue or the cards are knacked.
With your timescale in mind I would get moving and trying cos it looks like you may need to return something.

Have you trird reading and writing files to the Smartmedia from your PC, if that works then it is most certainly something to do with the Camera, either compatability wise or hardware fault. One other thing to check is what voltage is the card, there are two types of Smartmedia cards, 5v and 3.3v, the Fuji will only accept 3.3v cards whereas PC card readers accept both.
Otherwise do try what Tim suggests and take the camera down to Jessops and try another smartmedia card.

Thanks Gents for your help, but I have tried my other SM cards and they work fine. All my SM cards are 3.3v. I think I must have removed the file system because my PC sometimes hangs when I use my USB card reader, and in my frustration pulled the card out whilst the LED is on. I might be wrong but I think I have goosed my 64mb card!!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!! If anyone knows any different, pleeeeeeaaaasssse let me know
