I’m planning to up-grade my video PC from win98se to XP. Last year I had a 200gig HD installed for my video data and was told that because the machine was only 98se the disc would only show as 127g but if I had XP it would show the proper 200g. This is so.

My question is that, if I upgrade to XP, will this disc have to be cleaned off and a fresh start made.

It would be better to start from scratch , format main drive , install software etc , then initialise the video drive from within xp , that way it will be 100% an xp drive and have no hangovers from previous formattings etc.

Thanks Gary. As you say, it's better to do the job properly. Pete
