Custom Audio Lead Query

Hi

I will shortly have an opportunty to undertake some aerial filming, and would like to capture the audio of air-ground transmissions and intercom between the two pilots on-board.

On the aircraft, headsets plug into a pair of sockets - one is 1/4 inch jack, the other a smaller jack socket. I assume that the 1/4" one is for the headset speakers to receive, the other for the headset microphone to transmit.

I think therefore that I require a lead with a male 1/4" jack socket (to plug into the aircraft audio system) at one end, terminating in a female 1/4" jack (for the headset), and a male XLR (for my camera) at the other. Would this make sense?

If so, does anybody know of a company (or individual) that might be able to manufacture such a lead, or who might be able to offer some advice? I am in the SW Surrey area if that is of any help.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Simon

I was given a lead by an ex-BBC sound guy a few years back made just for recording in flight comms on UK aircraft and helicopters. If I can find it I'll drop you an PM and you're welcome to borrow it for your job.

OK, found it. It has a 4 pole stubby jack on one end, an XLR male on the other. PM or email (in profile) if you want a photo of it or if you want to borrow it.
