I've just bought the new mag, and as others have said, I'm impressed with the 12 inch Design stock footage in MOV format. Trouble is that if I'm to use it in an NLE timeline it needs to be imported. I've got Vegas 4 and MSP 6.5 and neither is happy with the files. They will either just import a couple of seconds of the files or put lots of black or white gaps into them. Anyone like to enlighten me as to where I'm going wrong?
Hi
Well the approved Apple way of doing things is to buy the Pro upgrade to the QuickTime Player ( £25 I think, you get a registration code from www.apple.com/uk/quicktime ).
Then you can Export the .mov into whatever varieties of .avi files that you have a DV codec installed that QT recognises - the default Apple DV codec is compatible with MS DV.
If you search through the DVD's pdf archive section I think the QuickTime teach-in articles I wrote for the magazine are included. These go into some depth explaining the powers of the QT file format.
