I am using an amd xp2000 and gigabyte mb K7triton GA-7ZXE 512mg sdram 40gig hd programmes and 120gig hd for video,I am using an advc100 capturing device, I had no problems capturing when I had win98 installed and slower cpu but since upgrading to winxp I seem to be getting a lot of dropped frames I close everything down and defrag but still get this problem I am using the software that came with the advc100 suplied by canopus, I have tried some other programes that I downloaded on trial before I decide to purchase one tha I am satisfied with, but a lot of them don't recognise my capture analogue devises panasonic recorder hd 1000 or my panasonic camcorder MS1, anyone any ideas for preventing dropped frames or can recomend a capturing software that will work with my setup at present, or do you think a faster cpu would be an answer thanks in advance

Try http://scenalyzer.com/ works well in XP

also have a look at http://www.tweakxp.com/

http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm look for
"Black Viper's Windows XP Home and Professional Service Pack 2 Service Configurations"

and see what that does...
