Dazzle USA has apparently dumped the DV now AV! It is not even listed on the dazzle website. Will Dazzle-europe continue support?

Sadly DAZZLE USA has never really supported the DV.now line. Their download site never moved beyond the release 1.5 software. When SMS bought DAZZKE things did not improve in the USA. Dazzle-Europe (where DV.now originated and is developed) still shows it and even Beta drivers up to 1.75 (posted June 6th), so at least there is hope. Wonder if it has been sold again?

I suspect that SMS/Dazzle-USA may not want to compete in the US$500 class market with Pinnacle and others, preferring to focus on the entry level price point products.

Maybe some one from Europe will tell us the real information.

But now with Pinnacle owning Fast..... what's happening with that. DV.NOW isn't even on THEIR site.

Pinnacle recently bought the portion of FAST Multimedia that did the professional products. However, the DV.now line came from the FAST Personal Products group, which is the part that DAZZLE bought several years earlier. There were press releases related to this on the DAZZLE web site a while ago.

DAZZLE is really a brand owned by SCM Microsystems, a holding company that has picked up a number of product lines (and presumably small companies) including security/surveilance systems, application specific ICs (for bus conversion), and media readers. DV.now AV probably did not fit into their product plans for the USA.

I suspect the lack of marketing DV.now in the USA after its first two years is due to DV.now AV's price point, a bit to high for the under $100 consumer market favored by the DAZZLE nameplate, and a bit to close to the current price point of Pinnacle's DV500 and other products that can claim links to a higher end profesional products for marketing purposes. Apparently it does better in the European market, where it was developed.
