I purchused DV.now lite and the software that comes with it doesn't detect my hardware. I used another peice of software that came in a filming demo and I could view my video on the pc so I don't know whats wrong. Any help?
you`ve lost me...Its windows that detects the new hardware, not the capture software!
The old version (1.4) doesn't work so I tried installing version 1.5 and I get the message hardware not detected during the installation
What order are you doing the installations in?
I did the installations as it was described in the manual. First the card then preimere and then dv.now sofware.
When starting the PC after installing the card, did you tell windows to skip installing drivers when it wanted to install them?
Yes, I canceled it and I installed the drivers after the DV.now software
The driver is called Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller if that helps
My DV NOW Lite was not detected at first, this turned out to be because I had it in PCI slot 3 which was 2.1 compliant but it was not a PCI Bus Mastering slot, check your slot
Good luck
Steve
Hallo BenjeeeBoy,
I am curious if you solved your installing problem at last.Yust a few days ago I bought that package and now I have the same installing problems. I am working with Windows ME and tried both DV.Now Lite versions (1.4 and 1.5) I changed allready to a different PCI slot but no change.
With kind regards,
Henk van Harten,
Actully I tried all of my PCI slots and nothing would fix. I emailed support but never got anything back.
If Windows Device Manager still detects it as a Texas Instruments card rather than a DV.now, even after installing the DV.now drivers, do the following:
Launch Plug&Play to update the driver. When it asks which driver you want to use, specify 'Have disk' and then point it to the file FAST1394.sys in the location C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. It should then list it in Device Manager as a DV.now.

I tried that but it wouldn't load the .sys file because it was looking for .inf files. There were none on the path.
If it still does not detect the hardware to install the correct driver, it could be either of these two causes:
1) There is still an IRQ clash. Try the card in every PCI slot. Also, find out if you can assign IRQ's in the BIOS - on many systems it is possible to assign an IRQ to the slot that the card is in.
2) The motherboard chipset: DV.now is incompatible with certain motherboards with VIA chipsets. Have a look at the topic 'Latest news from FAST-Dazzle Technical Support' on this forum for a detailed description of the problem.
