Got my program re-installed just fine. Now I really feel like a dummy.
I captured the tape thru DVNowAV to Premiere 6. I edited it and am now ready to export it back to the Sony Handycam blank digital tape.
I went to Export to video, hit the button and nothing happend. Played well on monitor but did not record to the camera tape.
Did I miss something here?
What I want to do is to export the video from Timeline to the camera.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Just be sure in the "Project>settings>advanced" you have the output set to Digital in Premiere.

Mike:
Tried it. Still no luck. When I went to File and tried to open Timeline Export it wasn't there. Export Clip was grayed out.
I wonder if you could give me a run down of the settings that should be in place in order for me to go through this exercise. It may be that I don't have those properly in place.
I have DVNowAV with P6.
Thanks

Also....
When I go to File, the Movie, Print to Video, Export to Tape, etc. pops up under Can't Undo.
This is a new one on me.

Some more also.....
Boy am I confused. Now I get Export Timeline.
I have tried to export to tape with no luck. I have tried to use the Firewire, RCA cables and the S-Video cable. Nothing.
Here is what I get when I try to start it.
File>Export Timeline>Export to Tape. Up pops this window:
"DV Device Control 2.0
The DV device us unavailable for device control."
Now what?
Any suggestions?

Make sure, when you first start Premiere, and the "Load Project Settings" dialog comes up, that you choose "Fast Dazzle DV".

Thanks JR. I will try that. Is there anything else I should be setting that will get this thing going?

Another question.

If I am trying to export back to the Sony camera onto digital tape what cord should I use to do this? Firewire, S-video, RCA cables?

Back again:
When I chose Fast Dazzle DV do I chose NTSC or PAL?
Thanks

Set it on NTSC and tried exporting to my VCR. No go. Still get the DV Device Control 2.0 window telling me the DV device us unavailable.
I sure hope I can solve this issue and get on with this project.
Thanks.

If you are in the USA or Japan, NTSC. In the UK choose PAL.

If you have your project done, and wish to export it, try this.. click "Enter" on your keyboard to render the project, then after it's done and starts to play, just hit record on your camera while it's in VCR mode. It should record what is being played on the timeline. I'm not familiar with the sony cams, or actually familiar with exporting back to DV as i usually just export to VHS or encode to Mpeg for VCD/SVCD/DVD.

I'll try that before I dump everything and reinstall.

I asked about NTSC and PAL because a version of the finished product will have to be done in PAL as it is going to Europe.
