Faith Trailer

Hey everyone - thought I'd post a quick trailer I did a couple of months ago for you all to see. I had to create, film, direct, edit and produce a professional DVD for a film trailer.

I tried to create the trailer itself to leave the audience really stuck in the sense that very little has been answered and they are then (obviously!) enticed to go watch the film! It started out as a teaser trailer but, because of its' length, it's kind of a cross between teaser and theatrical.

Any comments are welcome - I would love to re-shoot some of the shots as I am not happy with them but unfortunately I was only given 2 weeks for the entire project.

Filmed on a Cannon XM2 (the college wouldn't let me use my lovely PDX-10:( ), edited with Premiere Pro CS3 and the titles were created in After Effects CS3, along with the nice filter I added.

Sorry it's crappy you-tube quality (where else could I upload to?) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tIeNVEUoYA

Hi TruBassist.

I'd like to start with the positives.

Some very nice shots, creative mind and thinking in many shots with much thought for maximum impact. I really enjoyed the first 30sec......

I think as this is it's good, but far too long. I know you give reasons for this, but if you cut this down by at least half, in my opinion it could be great. Not sure about the titles, maybe a youtube thing!, and did not like the monotonous backing track.

Nothing wrong with the XM2 and would make no difference on youtube! its the person behind the camera that counts.

Just my thoughts. I liked it, but can see so much more potential in it, as you probably can yourself!

Cheers.

Other than the problems with your exposure, and the length, it did start to get me a bit excited.

As Flame said, there is a creative mind at work here and you need encouragement to continue - Best of luck.

The backing track was good, but I'm fairly sure I've heard it somewhere else - perhaps 28 days ago.......:D

WIRED - HAVEYOUBEENWIRED.COM & also a blatant cheap promotional link. :D

Gripping stuff and the music added to the hint of expectation. Loved the tracking shot too. Though I'd be really brutal and cut it to a minute. This would help keep the interesting edge to the music used.

Do not follow, I may not lead. Do not lead . . . I may not follow.

I definately wish I had cut down the final piece. You're right, it losses it's impact. I'd love to do the full length movie when I have the time!
Thanks for your input:D

Yea I had been watching the 2 films end of last year and had that music track stuck in my head. I did my own cut of it (lasting just under 4 minutes!!!) and then designed the trailer around that. I was hoping to go with a kind of 'not quite right', uncomfortable feeling with the audio (hence why there is only 1 other piece of audio apart from the actual backing track) and I used this music because it builds but it doesn't build quite enough; picking up pace a bit too quickly than people would perhaps want. The whole idea of the trailer is to make you feel uncomfortable through the music and not knowing what the film is actually about.

Thanks for the comments!
