Haven't needed a ripper to-date, but as reccomendation comes from yourself, I've downloaded it in case of need (but haven't tested it).

Thank-you for the pointer - it looks worth watching this website daily..which is probably their objective.

Kind words - thank you. I was put onto the site from someone else here (apologies can't remember who!)

It's one of those little tools you might use once in a blue moon but having it stops you urgently searching google when you realise you need it.

I've signed up for the daily email, about once every 7/10 days a neat little utility turns up - never found a catch, only had to supply email for daily email.

Thanks for that one, looks useful.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.
Camera settings documents are held by Daniel Browning and at the EBU
My book, 'Circles of Confusion' is available here.
Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.

:) :) - Good find, forgot about that. That looks to be the author/distributor trying to "promote" his software to sell - Get in quick and you'll get it for free :D

The reason I asked is because there is a mentally handicapped child in the in-laws family who likes watching videos and will occasionally latch on to a particular film which he will want to watch repeatedly.
Unfortunately, he has the accidental knack of quickly destroying discs and I am therefore occasionally asked to make copies simply to save the originals and avoid repeat purchases of the same title.

Cheers

Fergie, I understand. You need DVD Shrink 3.2 - also totally free.

Rips a DVD9 to a DVD5 in conjunction with Nero.

The Aimersoft DVD Ripper will rip a 1:1 copy so you'll need DL disks (not as cheap as SL) or it'll rip to any other format ie:VCD, iPod, etc.

Ta Foxy. I will give that a go with the next 'encoded' video he gets.

Cheers.

From the official DVD Shrink site:

Quote:
DVD Shrink is free software. You should never pay for DVD Shrink.

However they don't host the download themselves so you have to find it yourself. This site has it for free along with a good guide:

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/

But if that doesn't work give me a pm and I'll email it to you.

Thanks for that Richard.
I think I have now managed to download it by clicking on the ' English dvdshrink32setup.zip ' near the top of the page.

Cheers.
