Having switched to the learning process in Lion with FCPX, I now find I'm needing a new burner compatible with Lion to burn the first FCPX disc. Hitherto I've used Toast with my MacPro and Leopard but its a different scene with this FCPX on Lion.

I'd be interested to know what others have managed in that respect - and I'm hating the thought that all concerned have intelligently kept to Snow Leopard!

Well, I've kept with Snow Leopard. Oh wait... :)

OK, I'll relent - I don't have Lion or FCPX, but do you have the latest Toast (v.11)? - maybe that's needed for Lion?

Nah, Martin. Apparently even Toast 11 isn't compatible according to others I've had connection with on it. Desprit times ahead . . .

Looks like a try with ext HD swop and put into MacPro for burning if I can. Earlier tried to Network and with D/image.

Okay - adding on - just ordered 'LG BE12LU30 External Blu-ray Re-Writer' by LG Electronics - £103 total. Hope it comes soon so that I can finish and burn all four films I have waiting, in time for Xmas. Doesn't say anything against use with Lion so - fingers crossed.

. . . and yet another addition to the info! Cancelled the order. Found by reading elsewhere that the burner only burns to DVD and not to BD as well.

Back again.

I transferred the stuff, 4.22gb on disc, from Lion to one of my ext. HDs and from the HD to my old MacPro desktop, then through Toast burnt to disc. Worked okay in my Panasonic 46" screen but a bit on the dark side compared with the editing screen in FCPX. Audio not bad considering the windy conditions on mountains etc., and at least I have a workaround until those producing stuff for Apple come up with their latest OS.

So, those with the a second machine to transfer to can quite easily, albeit a bit longer to do, come up with a result from FCPX in Lion.

Ron I tried a copy of a Friends Toast 11 to see if I wanted it. It worked fine on Lion for me. What about compressor 4 or FCP X you can burn limited BDs from them and Toasts aren't that great. The Mac desperately needs a new disc burning software all you have of a proper standard is ENCORE and I'm not buying CS 5.5 for just one part

I accept entirely what you write, Paul. I've got Compressor 4. The end result though, of having a convenient burner, working from this 27" i7 iMac and Lion through Toast in the MacPro as I describe has sorted it for me temporarily. Toast is bound to be better shortly. I've been in touch with the Toast people and they agree a problem with burners as well as Toast in 10.7 OS is being studied and will be soon ended. It seems that Apple is ahead with the OS and they have some catching up to do - maybe something like Vista suffered for a while.

Whichever route, the OS is the culprit at the moment with incompatible burners and not yet ready progs for transferring.

Hi Sleepytom -

Are you confirming that Burn can handle HD from FCPX for playing in a BD player?

Anyone who is using FCPX in OS 10.7.2 on a i7 27" iMac and successfully burning from an external BD burner is invited to impart their very useful knowledge of the make . . . !

Thought I'd update this one because there are plenty of us who are waiting for an adequate burner to HD from FCPX in Lion.

There is still no burner capable of producing HD discs from FCPX through OS Lion. Snow Leopard is okay.
