Should I stick with what I have seen to work (not my system but a mates) the EW100 G2
or
should I pay the extra ... and get the G3?
I have an ME66/ K6 mic which should work OK with either system?
TIA
Stick with what you know works, I say. I use a G1 and it's faultless except for its appetite for PP3s.

Have you tried using rechargeable Lithums, or the adaptor that fits into Sony cameras that provides continuous power? Might save you a bundle of money. Charles and Heather in Shrewsbury who frequent this forum sell the Lithium cells and charger.
Thanks Chris. Yes, I've seen the rechargeable lithiums but decided (having seen the cost) to jump ship, buying a second-hand Sony radio mic system that uses bog-standard AAs. I feed it 2700mAh cells and it runs for 6 houtrs easy.

If it's the Charles and Heather I think it is (very nice people, by the way) - then Charles died about a year ago. :(

The G3 is much better than the G2 which is even better than the G1.
The main thing about the G3 for video use is that the new EK 100 G3 camera receiver is now diversity operation. :D
Also - it has a much wider switching bandwidth than G2.
G2 was also more expensive than G1, and G3, of course is more expensive than G2. With radio systems, you have to live with battery consumption. All my experiments with all kinds of rechargeable batteries were pretty well failures. Sometimes, not with the cells themselves, but with making sure a charging regime is foolproof. Even my box marked USED and FULL failed, when somehow flat ones ended up in the full box. Sometimes I could remember how it happened, other times I had no idea - apart from looking pretty stupid when the battery goes flat during the critical bit!

Oh dear, I had no idea, and I am VERY sad to hear that - they are lovely people. If anyone knows how to contact Heather, please do pass on my sincere condolences.
I think a lot of people on this site would have come across them, so, I think I will start a post in "Chatter".

Have sent you a PM about this as if it is Charles from microvideo he posted last month and I spoke to him on the phone shortly after.
