Just got this pair from e-bay and they are well made out of metal and do the job great at a lot lower price than the manfrotto ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Variable-Friction-Accessory-Magic-Arm-Kit-7-11-/180706625563?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D5%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2338088562576212673
even the hot shoe element is made out of well machined metal.

I thought for a minute you were going to suggest one of the horrible thieving Indian companies on eBay selling knock off stuff. But the arms look OK for lightweight hotshoe type gear.

Surely no replacement for proper magic arms with spigots on each end though? I use my Manfrottos with original clamps and studio clamps from Calumet UK, who make some great diffuser/reflectors, card holders, as well as cheap C-Stands (which so far have held up really well against the knocks and bumps) - http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/eng/product/calumet_40_double_riser_grip_stand_silver/mf7040

Yes Duncan I meant for smaller items such as LED lights and small monitors, they do make a sep clamp for them as well and the hot shoe end comes off so you can use them as double ended threaded mounts.

They are certainly a good add on for eng type cameras that don't have hot shoes even if it is just to hold a G2 receiver upright rather than tape it onto the camera like we had to do for the racing at goodwood.
