In the past i've allways used IBM Disk Manager 2000 to copy hard drives, but sod's law says when i need it i cant find it.

I need to copy a system drive on to a new fresh drive (the old drive is making death roll sounds). Is there any other software (thats free) i can use that will clone a drive simply or does anyone know were i can download it from ( no loger on IBM's site) or has a copy.

Regards

Acronis True Image is usually found on magazine cover disks. Power Quest is now Ghost. A google search should throw up something, make sure it works with NTFS format.

I'll second that! Acronis is a great bit of software and really easy to use - none of the messing about that you get with Norton's Ghost.

Acronis

I'd like to add my voice to the Acronis shout!

It's simply brilliant. Even detects external HD's.

The trial version is probably limited and won't let you go all the way. Make sure it's a fully functional date limited demo as oppossed to a limited software trial.

It's really cheap too.

I got a copy off a mag years ago and have purchased ever since!
