IRQ advice please?

Hi - newbie to BBs, thought I'd give it a try. I'm running Pinnacle StudioDV (1.26a) on WIN98SE on 366 Celeron 440 LX motherboard with AGP, 126 MB, 20Gb HD.

The upgrade to WIN 98 SE has created poor quality audio and jerky video when rendered to tape - with WIN 98 it was good audio and always glitching on video, usually at transition points - but just when make video - MPEG is always ok. Thing is, reading these boards, and some troubleshooting appendices in the handbook,I'm not convinced I'm set up properly on the IRQ front. The capture card is next to the video card - that appears to be a bad idea. Also, according to the book in answer to another seperate troubleshooting issue, it asks if the 1394 Bus Controller sub menu shows any mention of "Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1395 Host Controller" - if it does, remove it - mine does!

Could these two issues be causing my problems. Reading others' problems, I get off pretty lightly with just my "make video" problem - should I let sleeping dogs lie?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated as I'm walking on eggshells here.

Great magazine Bob - well done. I've been buying it for nearly two years now.

Before you do anything else, check out this thread over in the FAQ forum called "Video editing on a Windows PC - what can I do to prevent dropped frames?"
