I've just returned home after a few days away and was hoping my subscription copy of CV would be waiting for me, but no such luck.

Is the July issue out?

I still haven't got around to subscribing - yet, but I picked up my copy from W H Smith on Saturday 30th. June.

Actually, I saw CV in there last Wednesday, only to find - as I flicked through it while waiting for the bus home - that it was June's edition!!! It wasn't 'till I saw who'd won the competition (Pete Crabtree and Bob Wells) that it registered that I'd already got my copy last month...just shows how much I took in!

Thankfully, W H Smith gave me a refund...but, how embarrassing!!!

Chirpy.

Chirpy's Big Breakfast can be heard on Radio England International. These are repeat shows (he's retired now) played Monday to Friday 8am-12 noon and repeated in the evening from 8pm-midnight. People,

Aaaaagh!!!!!

Let me look into this, cos we've just changed from an outside fulfilment house to one of our own affiliate companies.

I need to find out the scale of the problem and will report back asap.

Just got to say "Mac the knife" for the FCP 2/RT Mac review headline was classic!

It still makes me chuckle now.

That's John Menzies for you .... their excuse for mags being late this month .... 'last monday was a bank holiday'

Magazine available from John Menzies ( ELGIN ) supplied by John Menzies ( ABERDEEN ) ... they always supply their own shops first.

I suppose that after all my comments in these pages I ought to actually go out and buy a copy of the magazine.

It hurts actually having to ~pay~ for a magazine - I get all the audio ones on free subscription.

Folks,

Apologies to those subscribers who received issues late (or, in some cases, still not got them).

We are in the process of moving the subscription department from an external company to a company owned by our parent, and the July issue is the last one where the old company has any involvement.

The July issue arrived with us (at CV Towers) last Monday (25th), and they also arrived with the old subs company on the same day.

Clearly, that being so, there is no excuse why all UK subscribers shouldn't have received their copies last week.

The old subs company swears blind the copies didn't turn up until Thursday, but my distribution controller tells me that they DEFINITELY were there on Monday, and there is a signed delivery note to prove it.

That being so, there isn't much I can do to about the situation, since, in effect, we've already sacked the company responsible.

Hopefully, the new people, who have been VERY responsive whenever I've dealt with them, will make a better job of it in future.

Again, sincere apologies.

Just for the record, mine arrived on time over a week ago. So some are getting through (not much comfort for those without I suppose).

emmelleff,

Assuming you're a UK subsciber, then, you should (judging by the dates detailed and what others have said), get yours today and definitely no later than tomorrow.

Email me, please, if it doesn't turn up (in addition to commenting here if you want to).

Before responding, could I just ask if ANYONE who has a normal paid-for subscription has actually received their July issues? Bob C
===================
Folks,

I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

This is all deeply embarassing!

The company who did the fulfilment of subscriptions was given the boot, as
I think you may know, and they are clearly trying to have the last laugh with the final issue they are handling - July.

They had the issues on Monday July 25th (but say they didn't get them until the Thursday; though we've apparently got the consignement note - with signature - saying that they were delivered on the 25th!), and when we spoke to them again today, said that all subscription copies were sent out on the Monday 2nd July.

If you have not got yours by Saturday, please let me know.

Again, sincere apologies.

Bob: Thank you, as ever, for your very welcome frankness and openness (as well as a hands on involvement) that is quite unprecedented in other fields, in my experience! Sure, we're concerned and sad - but your explanations do help. Will report back - as no doubt will others - if nothing shows up by the weekend. You can't fix the weather, too, can you?

Toni,

Cheeky sod, you could have driven over to our offices and grabbed one!

And bought me lunch at the same time.

;)

Any way, I don't expect contributors to the mag to stir things up for me here. Rather, I expect them to be supportive and understanding, and to have a calming influence.

;)

NB. She's only wants to see it to check how badly Peter and I mangled her review of the Samsung WorldWide VCR! (Oh, and to see her name in lights again).

Bob C
PS - Thanks for the Samsung review Toni!

1) I "Second the motion" on how anxious subscribers like me look forward to receiving CV; and
2) Never missing a chance to whine, moan and whimper, my June subscription must be moving this way on the techtonic plates. I hope California is still here when it arrives. In the meantime, I can dream and have another glass of Chardonnay.

Cheers, all.

Here in Sunny Belgium, 12 July and still not a peep. After having left my June issue in a hospital (unread) and returning to find it removed, I have not had a good fix for some time now.

Going on holiday tomorrow and it would be lovely to read CV sitting on the terrace beside the golf course after breaking par for the first time (We can dream )

June, spoon, croon, tune...
Yesterday, my June subscription copy arrived.

The subscription service said (last week)it was sent June 16, not on the techtonic plates as I thought, but by U.S.Postal Service. It arrived with its plastic wrap (for my protection) in-tact, so it wasn't read along its journey. So, Bob, "it ain't you, babe, it ain't you" it's US, here.
[The service said July's issue will be mailed to me this week].

Regardless, CV's worth the wait - we all must suffer for our art.
