I have an idea for a web documentary series based on an incident that happened to me and my girlfriend. I feel that I can expand outward from the small and personal story that I tell here and make this about bigger cultural issues. I must be honest and say I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this yet. My objectives change the deeper I get into it.

Having said that, here is the first webisode of my series, with three more to come.

Input is welcome of course!

Hi Mike,

Just watched this.

I want to respond in two parts.

Firstly I thought your documentary making skills were pretty amazing. You drew me in and I watched it with anticipation of how the story was going to unfold. Your voiceover is excellent, sound bites selection fits really well, and your extremely tight editing was the icing on the cake. Really impressed.

I thought it was shocking what these people were doing all in the name of religion, but religion is just that! Man made and against, if I may say, what true Christianity is about. No wonder their are so many doubters!

I will not delve deeper with my beliefs here, as I guess it's not the place, but gripping stuff.

Cheers,

Flame.

Thanks for the feedback. I especially appreciate that, coming from you.

I think the most difficult aspect of the videos is the very personal nature of the subject matter. It is going to be especially difficult to avoid accusations of being biased. I will admit, I most certainly AM biased, in this instance! But I also hope I can be fair.

(This is not the place for a discussion of anything other than the technical aspects of the video but for what it's worth I agree with your above statement.)

Wow that is unbelievable and I feel so sorry for your girlfriend. I hope your documentary series gets good coverage on the Net and as a consequence this guy gets permanently shut down by the authorities.

I know it has not been suggested that he is a true Christian, but I thought I would highlight that the activities of this guy are in no way Christian. It's true that in old testament times the Jews would sacrifice animals to God. However this was based on a somewhat universal rule (found in virtually all religions) that the only way to pay for sin was with blood. Think along the lines of what you would want to happen if someone murdered your family. However Christians gladly acknowledge that this all stopped when a perfect sacrifice, Christ himself, was given for all our sins, past and future. So Christians don't have to make such sacrifices and to do so would make God out to be a liar since it would suggest that Jesus was not the perfect sacrifice.

Sadly what is happening here is much more likely to be a religion opposed to Christianity where there is a belief that personal power is gained through appeasing spiritual forces. Given the way the guy is acting towards you and your girlfriend (trying to curse you) I would say it sounds more like a cloaked form of Satanism where sacrifices are a key ritual.

I don't want to sound alarmist, but please be very careful with this guy. I suspect hatred boils in his own blood and there is no telling what he might do. I say this not to suggest you back away, but only because I don't want to see you and your girlfriend get hurt. On the other hand I equally believe in truth and justice and I think this is a very good use of the media to try and uproot something that is clearly wrong. I wish you a successful outcome and as a Christian will pray towards that end.

Thank you noddy. My girlfriend has since moved away. She is safe or else I would not be doing this.

Just to be clear, this is not a form of Christianity. This is Santeria, which is an African religion from the slavery era that cloaks itself in the trappings of Christianity in order to hide. I explain more about it in Part 2.

Thank you for your prayers.

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you are asking me! What do you mean by a "closed community"?

Basically he is practicing this in a shed surrounded by close neighbors. Which caused your girlfriend to leave.
No way would this happen in England.
I'm amazed not so much of the killing but the rubbish in the garden and no body seems to be able to endorse the law on that issue.
As there is more to come i will leave my judgment until i have seen the rest of your report.

It's still a religion, Mike .... Man made. Laughed at in a million years' time ! However, the film - absolutely brilliant. Next episodes eagerly awaited.
