As the title suggests... The Fore, "I Think You're Pretty"

Shown here for a few days only, prior to the release of the single. :D
Any comments are invited btw... :)
It works :)
I've changed the link above to a far higher quality version of the Vimeo video now... :)
And added a password... 'pretty23'
From my recollection of Milton Keynes you could have shot each line of the song on a different roundabout! ;-)
Good work.
I like the colouring especially. The song's good too, but the lead singer must be one of the most annoying and off-putting performers I've ever seen. The rest of the band should ditch him - he's got to be holding them back!
Can't agree more about the singer but fraid the colouring was off putting to me, b/w normal, tinted, didn't add anything. Likewise, shots of the girl, I know she's sort of the subject of the lyrics but it just didn't work for me.

That's interesting... Whilst you should not lose sight of the fact that the video is 'a performance', the lead singer IS quite a flamboyant character, a multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, drums amongst others) and a consummate (and very popular) performer. He releases solo works as well as playing live in at least two other bands on a regular basis. He's very much a Marc Bolan, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Sid Barret type character... Imagine if you will if they had been ditched by their bands for being a bit weird or annoying?
To be honest he was told to 'ham it up a bit' for this video. The rest of the band are supposed to look a little bemused or bored by it all when they're not playing their instruments.
Thanks for your comments - appreciated. :)
It's managed over 460 completed views on YouTube in the last 5 days (there's two copies), so it's doing well there. :D
I gotta admit, I hated the colour grade.
BW/Colour - fine. But I think grade the colour 'once' and uniform it!
I don't like the blue tint in the black. Have you looked into Magic Bullet? You can fine some beautiful presets in there.
I think you'd be better off with a nice 70's warm look. You touched on it slightly. But, kill the GREEN!
I can't remember what it is, or what it's called, but blur the light/luma thingamebob.. maybe?
That's interesting...
Join Date: May 1999? OMG,was the internet even plugged in, in 1999? lol ٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶
On second watch. I dont...hate the blue/blacks. 1:02 has some nice colour, "I like your ear rings"... funny guy! 1:12 has some nice colour too.
The lead singer, can carry the video well! ...to be honest. I think the wide stuff with the rest of the band stood on the bridge kills me. They seem so vapid.
I think, if they wanna 'make it' either join in ah-la 'Monkeys' http://www.punmaster.com/monkees.jpg - or swallow their pride, step into the shadows, and let the singer take centre stage.
Tadaaah!
I like it - bit to much jumping around on the grading for my liking, but all in all very nice.
First of all I liked the track, so well done on them if its their own writing. As previously said the grading did nothing for me, it was like it was an attempt to be funky that didnt work. Unlike the other guys I liked the lead singer - to me you need guys to overact for a pop video and he carried it off well, but agree the other guys on the bridge could have done a bit more than just stand there, if they were supposed to be bored and uninterested they could have taken a leaf out of their lead and acted up a bit more.
The composition of the video was good - kept the interest going - maybe a bit more of the girl, but thats just because I'm a bloke and she's pretty
overall - well done and thanks for sharing
Thanks for all the comments, the grade is not my preferred one in fact. I gave the client a choice of three... They specifically wanted monochrome for the 'performance' sections and asked for a very heavy saturation in the grade of the other sections.
I'm very familiar with consistent grading (I've graded for broadcast in the past) and have Magic Bullet too, however they specifically asked for "heavy greens" and "kind of sepia" too... Believe me my preferred grade for the whole thing was fairly bleached and de-saturated. But the client is king... :) at least most of the time! :D
It's original birdie and was written by the singer in fact.
Following on from comments about the grade, I wondered if you would like to compare my original grade... http://vimeo.com/12797965
Personally, I much prefer that, but then I'm wrong as the customer is always right . .aye right!
Its a frustration of our job that we're forced down a line that we dont want to go, but as long as they're paying, we're smiling :D
yip - good work
Geoff
The lead singers 'flamboyance' doesn't come across at all. Short, snappy cuts and more angles might have brought him out, as it would the rest of the band, model included.
The whole film is shot from more or less the same plane?
I watched all the way through but nothing changed...
