The new NAGRA VI is now shipping.

I did an extensive review for "Line Up" magazine which will be in the shops in a couple of weeks.

6-tracks, 24/96 capability, comes with a 4/5 hour battery pack with a 12/15 hour pack as an option (so it will record all day) - available in a choice of three colours: slate grey, midnight blue or burgundy red.

It really is a superb machine with *very* accurate timecode.

My only small niggle was immediately corrected by Nagra when I spoke to them.

I was so impressed I have bought a burgundy red one with the 12/15 hour battery pack and carrying case.

Definitely recommended - I'll get my review posted on websites later (after the magazine has hit the shops).

Good one John,

Very interesting. Any idea who is stocking them, and a ballpark idea on price would be useful.

You buy direct from Nagra Kudelski GB.

You can hire them from Richmond Film Services , who have two or three in their hire stock - costs £60 a day or £240 a week +VAT.

The NAGRA VI retails for £3,999 +VAT and includes the 4.6Ah battery pack and PSU/charger.

The 13.8Ah battery pack is £514 +VAT.

The Nagra original case is £135 +VAT, but there is a UK made case available (better I am told, so I'm getting the UK one) at £120 +VAT.

If you want to read my review, PM me with an e-mail address and I'll send you a pdf.

The cheaper 2-channel NAGRA LB will be coming ot in October (hopefully) and I will be reviewing that when it comes. The LB will be about half the price of the VI, but is stereo only and does not have timecode (though it will have a time stamp I am told).

Looks like a handy bit of kit.

Thank-you for the hire link. As an ad-hoc user it makes it affordable.

It's name looks like an email title in the junk directory - which subconsciously I think I should ignore.
Atleast an anagram of it.

NAGRA MA would be a better name if they're going for anagram's.;)

Lovelly piece of kit but I do wish that recordists would spend more time in post prod to see the effects of splitting location audio across 6 tracks.
