A friend has acquired a Nikon D80. All very advanced for her (and me as a Canon man). What neither of us can discover is how to get images to stay on the back camera screen or on a TV for longer than 4 seconds. By the time friends have looked at them on the telly, they vanish. Very frustrating.

Any help on this one please. She has the manual plus several good books on the camera but this one baffles us.

Custom Setting 27 Monitor Off should let you chose a longer time.

Thanks Chris. Have tried that and it just seems to either be ON or OFF. Can't see anything about having the display on for any length of time. (Unless it's just me of course, as always)

Hi Peter
I was basing this on the D200 which uses Custom Setting C5 Monitor Off. This gives various options from 10 seconds to 10 minutes.

But it's not you, this is the only info I can find...
"D80 Monitor Off. This selects how long the monitor stays lit after you ignore it. This works in the menus and on playback. Firmware Defect: Sadly this doesn't affect the length of the Image Review after you make a shot."

Nikon website has two firmware updates for the D80.. 1.01 and 1.10 neither of which seem to fix this, but they do fix other issues.

Sorry can't be more help.
