Hello
Well what can I say. I was stressed. It was late. I decided to use DEL PART and was in hindsight a little kung ho with the keyboard.
I have deleted the partition on my second 40gb HD. Is there anyway of recovering this. Especially as the drive has not been formatted yet!
I think I already know what the answer is.
Please keep the insults to a minimum.
Thanks
Tilski
Try Norton Disk Doctor.
The DOS version on the CD has managed to recover partitions on one of my RAID0 arrays so it should manage to recover on a single disk.
If it manages to recover the partition info it has to rebuild the FAT. If you used NTFS you will need the emergency repair disk.
Hello Tilski,
Type, Undelete ,And see what comes up on the net! There are programs and people who want your money of course!
Be unusual, Dont make mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck,
Philip
Was it NTFS or FAT32?
If FAT32 you might be able to put the partition back exactly as it was with DOS FDISK.
I did just this once before, I recreated the partitoion table as it was, when I rebooted the disk and contents could be seen again.
If it is NTFS then Norton or similar is you only hope.

Where can I find Norton's Disk Doctor?
It doesn't seem to be listed as a product on the Symatic site.
Is it part of a larger package?
Til
Disk Doctor is part of Norton Utilities which is also a component of Norton System Works.

Forgive me for sounding stupid but what would happen if I created a partition on the drive. Would then be able to see all my data because the drive has not been formated?
Just a thought.
It was an NTFS drive btw.

If you create a partition instead of recovering it you will overwrite the placeholer for the FAT/root directory. This will not make the recovery of the FAT and root directory impossible (particularly with FAT32), just harder.
Recovering NTFS disks is a lot harder than FAT32, trying to do it without decent tools will result in tears before bedtime!
Greetings,
You can try data recovery software: Partition Table Doctor or DataRecoveryWizard.
These tools helped me, so give it a try. Really awesome soft!
Yet another blatant advert from China.
I know how you feel - I formatted my (ntfs) data drive and was fortunate enough to be able to recover nearly all my files and folders using File Recovery Pro. If you fail to reinstate the partition it may be worth downloading a trial version which after a scan should identify any data on the drive. To recover the data I paid £57 for the full program.
