Hi,

Advice for a motherboardboard to use for rock solid stable editing with all my current processor, ram and kit. Maybe an old one you have that you have upgraded from or something I can buy on the web/ebay.

I have a KT7a raid with a AMD 1GHz Athalon 200 fsb and 512mb of PC133 ram. This motherboard does not work with my soundblaster platinum live and teh other bits on my PC, even with all kinds of fiddling so I want to get a new motherboard.

Would greatly appreciate any recomendations. My budget is limited, looking at the sub £50 mark.

Thanks

Ed

OK don't kill me Bob C I know I asked this on the AMD section of the Forum but I get the feeling many do not look at it, so I am posting it here.

Hello ED VH,
I use a Abit KT7 Raid board! No problems!

1.2GHZ Athlon,Win2000Pro, Same memory setup as yourself!
Standard SoundBlaster card,
GeForce2 MX400 Video card,
Pin Studio Dc10Plus card,
Pioneer A04 + MSI CDR 48X16X48,

This setup is trouble free!

The old ?
Remember your board is newer than mine!
Are all drivers up to date ,It does make a heck of a difference!
Hope this saves your cash!

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried everything possible to sort it out with drivers, PCI slots, bios, system settings, you name it. I too had my soundcard working OK on Win2000, and I am considering going back to it to be honest even if my girlfriend likes the Fisher Price look of XP.

Thanks

Ed

I too had problems with Sblive under XP, so have been running with on board sound until this week. I noticed that creative have a new unified driver for 2000/XP released 10/3/2003. So I downloaded it, popped the soundcard back in (minus 15 months of dust). It works! Power DVD fine, games fine, & premiere 6.02 fine too. downside is 23.3Mb about 90 mins on 56k modem.
