I remember being shown a "CD burner" or "WORM" drive at a software company where my cousin worked - that was around 20 years ago. The drive took pride of place on a plinth in the office. It looked like a computer base unit!

I'm fairly sure it was made by Yamaha and cost either 3k or 30k - not sure which!

Used to work with the Electricty Board and they had a problem when the labourers had dug up the wrong side of the street to lay a cable. Seems that they had the map upside down. Maybe this software was a bit late :D

Hi!
Yes I can remember my first CD player (not writeable). It was bought in 1990 from a company in Watford who built a computer for me. It was made by Yamaha, had a plastic cassette in which to place the CD, and cost £350. But then the 486 computer had only 1meg of RAM and a 10? gig hard drive..........Ah how things have progressed.

To be pedantic: that was probably 10 MEG, not 10 gig!
