Private or Trade?

I note that someone is charging VAT on the sale of goods on this BB. Bob, could you please clarify the policy of this BB regarding private and trade sales?

The forum is really intended for private sales but I don't have a problem with one-offs from companies but will be brutal if I think that anyone is trying to take liberties.

However, it's worth pointing out that if you are an individual that is VAT registered and sell something that is VATable, then VAT has to be charged.
