Hi,

DO NOT install the new FastTrak66 Device Driver and BIOS Update (1.30).

I installed the update last week, the install went fine, everything worked and I was quite happy.

Until..........

I did a speed check on my striped drive and found it was actually reading & writing slower than before the update. ( but still quick enough for the data rate I require. )
So I thought nothing more of it, until today.

Just to let you know, nothing else on my system has changed, I have just started a new project..... so the drives are clean, and I shouldn't be needing to use the slower end of the drives.

Anyway...........

I started to get loads of skipped frames whilst capturing....

LOADS............

NO MATTER HOW LOW THE COMPRESSION RATE.....

HELP............

I've tried everything.

There are no instructions on promises website on how to change the bios back.

So what do I do?

I will be mailing promise about this matter, but thought I would warn you all of this problem.

Hi Paul,

If there is nothing of consequence on your RAID array could you delete the partition using Disk Administrator or (and preferably) FDISK? Please do not use Partition Magic or any 3rd Party utility.

Once you have deleted the partition, then remove the array within the FastTrack BIOS and then shutdown.

Restart, create/redefine the array, then recreate the partition again with either Disk Administrator or (and preferably) FDISK, and then re-run your benchmarks.

Let us know if this makes any difference.

Thanks.

PS. I have assumed this is a genuine FastTrack66 rather than a, er, re-engineered Ultra66.

I there is a still a feature on the fasttrack to control the pci bus utilisation... try setting it as LOW as possible.

It may be locking the capture card out.
