Okay, I built this media box in january, its got a 2.6 atholon xp, 1gb ram, ATI AIW 9600, SB AUDIGY PLAT PRO....

Ive been capturing stuff at DVD quality MPEG2, editing and authoring onto dvd with tmpeg dvd (i wish it was more powerful, but i love its quick preview and easy cut and chapter tools), and for stuff like hockey i usually have to shrink that with shrinkdvd to get the final source product...

now i have all these hockey games from the past season and the playoffs on dvds, I have logged edit lists using the dvd time code...

I want to make highlight reels... I have ulead studio 7...

So what i think i need is something to convert the clips i need to either mpeg2 or avi...i tried dvd to mpeg converter, and i like it (quick preview, easy start and end marks)...but it doesnt have a timecode display that i know of, this kills me for the edit list...

allright, so like i said basically i want to make these sick highlight videos (i will author them to dvds), with layers of sound and transition effects and stuff, but im not sure how to get from the dvd sources to clips small and easy enough to use in ulead (and i dont really know which format is better, mpeg2 or avi) because i dont have a converter that uses timecode....

any random help would be totally sweet....

oh yeah, obviously i have just been using the ATI media center for capture purposes at high or dvd quality, the quality is unbelievable, i know its not a full hd ripper, but man hd looks great, even though it is letterboxed (even on my 16:9 display...even sports like hockey capture great, and the dvds look really good too, animation is captured perfectly...

anyway, just some more info, still need mad help...
