I see so many times in Photo Magazines at the bottom of pictures the detail concerning the f/number, Exposure, Lens etc. How this done do I require an add on to my Nikon D 80?

Re: Recording Data of picture taken
All this information and lots more is usually embedded in the image file by most modern digital cameras and should be retrievable using your photo editing program.

Adobe Bridge is good for metadata editing - I have mine set up to put my name and details in there.

If you are using Windows on a PC, you could try right clicking on the file, selecting "Properties" (it's usually down at the bottom), then choose the "Details" tab.
(As I understand it, you can read but not write or edit the data this way.)

The data is often called EXIF data. Image viewers like Faststone, Irfanview, BreezeBrowser etc can usually display it if you adjust their preferences
