Retrieving Files

If there is any way to retrieve these files I shall be pleased to know.

Files were moved to a LaCie 250GB external HDD from C:/ & F:/ drives.
The C:/ HDD was formatted and Window XP reinstalled. All the other programmes that were previously on the C:/ HDD were also reinstalled.

When the LaCie was then connected most files were not available.

Any ideas please?

ouch. when last was the lacie used successfully? recently?
some of the lacie range have a BAD reputation for failure, which is why I've always steered clear of them

can you access it via DOS?
or remove it from the external case and try install it as an internal drive (just to take as much out of the chain as possible)

First Fuddam.
When the computer was booted-up:
This drive has almost always, (sometimes not) had a blue screen "drive needs checking".
After this check it has been available.
DOS - haven't tried that.
As far as I can see it is not possible to remove from it's case.

Gary.
(1)Files were first displayed from their folder,
(2) then copied to LaCie.
(3) looked at on LaCie to ensure their arrival.
(4) Then deleted from the HDD they came from.
(5) Format C:\ and reinstall Windows XP
(6) Reinstall all the programmes.
(7) LaCie connected. (Firewire)
(8) Musical files were successfully transferred to a HDD. (F:/)
(9) All other files not accessable.
The folders from which all files came registered empty (hovver mouse cursor) All refused to delete.

Checking for errors on LaCie. Repair bad sectors enabled.
Will check C: when LaCie has finished and report any findings.
Both HDD checked. Outcome; Most can be delelted but none can be opened and read.

LaCie now formatted.
