Scan Tape Function in FF 1.6

Hi. I shot about 10 two minute clips today. I hit scan tape in FF 1.6 (0240) and it only recognized one long 20 minute clip. Does is recogonize clips by day shot, or time shot? Being each clip was shot at a different time I was hoping I would have 10 clips. Is there a way it can recognize the time the clip was shot?

I am using a Sony VX-1000. Do I need to adjust anything on the camera or in Fast Forward. Thanks.

ps This is my first time capturing DV, usually I've been capturing analog from a v.c.r.

Odd. Should recognize a new clip after each pause. Probably based on information in the data code area (not timecode). My copy of 1.6 had no problem finding the clips on firewire connection. What were you shooting and how did you shoot it?

Scan tape does not identify clips from analog input.

Hi. I was using the Sony vx1000 (DV). With FF 1.6 (0240). Using IE1394 (or whatever it's called) "firewire" input.

After each take I hit pause. I burned in timecode "striped" the tape before filming. I did cancel "scan Tape" after about 5 minutes because it only recogonized 1 clip. There was more than 1 clip in 5 minutes. Maybe I should of waited.

I'm going to plug the camera back in today and hit batch capture. Maybe all those "red dot" clips will be pulled from the tape with FF

Thanks.

Now I am confused? You have a bunch of clips with red dots? That sounds like a bunch of individual clips that have been logged/scanned but not captured.

Tape scan, if working properly, nets you bunch of clips with red dots, one per scene, although the last scene might leave it confused as to the out point - (at least it did with 1.5. I've not tried to logged past the end of a recorded area of tape with 1.6.) And tape scan does not stop until it gets to the end of the tape. it just plays back the tape and logs the individual clips in one continuous pass.

Maybe I missed something in your post.

Thanks for your replies. I manually captured each clip. Instead of chosing batch capture I selected "create new clip" for each clip. Then hit play on the camera, then record in capture assistant.

Thanks.

I figured it out. I had time to play with the camera today. My mistake was stopping the scan tape function before it was done.

Thanks for all your help
