Setting IRQs

I have just purchased a Studio DC10plus card and it is supported by Version 7 Software. When trying to capture I am only given the option of capturing DV. My camcorder is analogue, so is the DC10plus.
Pinnacle have told me the the DC10 and my Graphics card should be on individual IRQs numbered 9 to 12.
I have 5 PCI slots only two of which are used. I have swapped the cards about to no avail. I now need to try the BIOS.
How do I change the IRQs for the PCI slots in the BIOS.

if you bought a dc10+ with studio 7 have you checked which version of the software is on the cd.

only the latest is guaranteed to work with dc10+ , which is why i finally ordered my copy.

check http://webboard.pinnaclesys.com/read_forums.asp?WebboardID=1&SectionID=2&lng=1

and http://webboard.pinnaclesys.com/read_forums.asp?WebboardID=1&SectionID=58&lng=1

to see the problems people are having and how they get round them.

To change IRQ's you do not need to go into BIOS; in fact I think Windows will always overide the BIOS. Select 'My Computer' then click on 'Help' tab. Select Contents (or Index?) and enter IRQ in seek box. This leads to instructions on changing IRQ. OK?

i don't like contradicting people but with some motherboards the only way to assign the correct irq's is to force specific irq's in the bios and switch off acpi.

that is why i suggested that he look at the webboard where other people with exactly the same equipment may be able to give a known fix to pinnacles hardware problems.

Mac,
Have you tried sepulchre's suggestion?

Also, I seem to recall that you can override the refusal to change IRQ by temporarily cancelling the appropriate "IRQ holding for PCI steering" found when you select Control Panel/Device Manager/system/computer

sepulchre
Fear not, I don't mind being contradicted, especially when I might be wrong (ie always)!

Cheers, David

i'm so used to motherboards that need over-riding in the bios that i never try software alone.

and dc10+ is fine once you get it to work , but a 'grade A' bu**er until you do.
I've still got to try mine with studio7 if pinnacle manage to get it to me ..... it takes over 7 days to pick it off a shelf to even start the transfer of ownership

acpi and irq9 cause so many problems with badly written drivers that i always switch it off.

i know it's supposed to work ..... i guess that's why it doesn't always.

I still think that the problem may be down to the driver version ..... pinnacle claim only the latest driver works with dc10+ ( i.e allows output ) so that may be the problem http://www.pinnaclesys.de/support/drivers_results.asp?driver=yes&lang=2& product_id=634&os=16&type_id=4 which leads to
ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/driver/pc/Studio7/Studio_7_07_1_Patch.exe which is a 11mb file 7.07.1 ... the newest drivers !!!!

also look at http://www.pinnaclesys.de/support/drivers_results.asp?driver =yes&tool=yes&lang=2&product=110&os=7&product_id=110#1

where fast pc's cause problems , so pinnacle have a new reg file.

Hi David
I tried to temp disable irq Holding i Device Manager, but I could not select anything in that irq window, you can only select devices in the Show Devices etc. and irq Holding does not appear there.
I have tried to alter irqs in Device manager, but am not allowed to do so. I have disabled P+P in the Bios to no avail. I have downloaded v7.07.1 (The latest driver).
I have contacted Pinnacle Help Desk again and await their answer
Many thanks
Mac

Hi Sepulcre'
I have cracked it, or rather Garry MacKenzie has. He told me to remove the DC10 card switch off. Switch on and remove all Pinnacle software, switch off. In the meantime I downloaded Regdelete from Pinnacle which deletes Pinnacle entries in the Registery. I ran this and switched of. I replaced the DC10 card swiched on and it found the card etc etc. It now works and the IRQ has not been changed.
Thanks for your efforts
Regards
