Alex,
Is this item still for sale, and if so what price are you asking?
Andrew.
please send information to andrew@wrightcommunicators.com
Coo! Nearly ten years, Andrew! Good luck! I hope you find what you seek!
What staying power this forum has. Wonder if the batteries are charged.

So what`s going on ? a ten year old post is suddenly sparked back into life and two new members are chasing an almost obsolete camcorder.
Ah, John, but you're forgetting that it has features which are missing from present-day offerings. How long have I been saying that there is a demand for an on-the-shoulder successor to the VX9000 that takes full-size tapes and doesn't weigh a ton? Seven years now? Since DV is still a valid format it records to the correct standard for producing DVDs.
Although the head hours of a 10 year-old camcorder are likely to be on the high side, the heads on those VX9000s seem very hard-wearing - and they are likely to have been used on best quality DVCAM tape to get the full 4hrs 40mins recording time. Don't forget that it was Sony's top-of-it's-range when it came out.
Apart from the ribbon cable from the microphone that can give crackles, it has good reliability.
I'm not surprised that there is still interest in the VX9000. Since it came out, no manufacturer has produced a natural successor, either when 16:9 became common or when HDV became a standard.
Last but not least, an on-the-shoulder camera impresses the punters.

However! we had 2 of them & then bought 2 VX2000`s, we found a marked difference in picture quality so sold them & bought 2 x DSR250`s, all have which been since replaced with HD cams. The VX9000 had a lot of features but it depends on what it would be used for & what quality was now expected.
