Hi!
For those of you who havent yet seen their release notes, Total Training are at last starting on line training.
At the present time the range of programs available is rather limited, but would be worth keeping an eye on to see if the content is expanded. At the time of writing this, there is no lessons on Premier CS3, and After Effects CS3, but should these be added soon the cost would soon be recouperated as the training is available 24/7.
At the present time I am only aware of VTC having on line training available, and while it covers everything they produce, I have found their courses not up to the quality of Total Training`s.
Heres hopeing that Total Training expand the training soon to include everything they produce (like VTC) which would make it a worthwhile investment. At the present time a subscription for all their available (limited) training the cost is $249 and for Adobe only the cost is about $197

can't recommend lynda.com enough.

If you have a lot of different products the subscription is worth it. Never used total training but would def be interested.

Hi Michael!
I have just taken a look at the Lynda site and am quite impressed. I have looked at a couple of their video clips, and they appear to be much better than the ones from VTC and on a par with Total Training, they also use accredited Adobe instructors.
Lynda certainly have a great advantage for me as at the present time they have far more on line than T/T. Above all they have Adobe CS3 training up and running and available now.
Thanks very much for bringing the site to my attention, I will give it some serious consideration.

Having used both Lynda and TT for Adobe product training I have to say that I find the TT products far far superior. Their production values, the presentational skill of the presenters, the usability of the DVDs is just, IMO, so much better. Maybe it's just me but I find Lynda's Premiere guy intensely annoying, and that allied with the crap ideas for the fictional projects makes me cringe and does not encourage me to watch the DVDs. Which after all is the point. Whereas the TT guys, Deke Mclelland and Jacob Rosenberg in particular, are not only Adobe accredited instructors but acknowledged experts in their field.
However, I suppose if it's CS3 training, and you want it now, it has to be Lynda.

Thanks Mark.
I agree some of the best training DVDs that I have seen have been from Total Training. However I am interested in on-line training as its not only Video and Film, but being able to get to grips with the new office programs, Vista etc.
I dont know how long it will be before Total Training get their complete library on line - if ever, but if it is in the near future I agree Total Training is probably the better choice and I know them having bought some of their DVDs.
Having said that I have looked at several clips from Lynda and thought that the content was pretty good, and whilst not quite up to the standard of Total Trainings, didn`t fall that much short. I guess its a matter of opinion. My CS3 Production Premium should be arriving very soon, and I will awat until its installed (i have to wait for the Matrox RX.T2 tools upgrade before they will run) I will then have chance to see what progress Total Training have made and make a decision.
Thanks for your imput. Mike

When i sat down to learn Premiere pro 2.0 it was a combination of Lynda and the adobe classroom in a book series.

I don't expect there to be as big a jump to cs3 but may look into total training to help the transition.

Lynda.com has one advantage over TT in that they allow you to pay on a month by month basis with cancellation at any time. TT want 12 months in advance and once you pay thats it.....no refunds if you cancel.

I am quite happy to pay for a whole year especially as there is about 16% saving. Also with the programs available, I guess I will be using whichever site for at least 6 months.
Just as an aside, I have just received a questionair from Total Training in which one of the questions was "would you prefer to pay monthly" so they are obviously looking into that.
Anyone wishing to look at Total Training tutorials can view a lot of their stuff on the web site. You can obtain a free two day pass to their on-line tutorials, to get an idea of whats on offer.
The only problem for me at the present time is the training they offer, being rather limited and very little in the way of up to date editing material.......this may however change as they are only just putting a toe in the water so to speak.
