Hi,
I have completed a short 25 minute drama about two trafficked girls who have escaped a brothel. This is the trailer for it. It is the first trailer I have done and it is amazing how not so simple it is. Trying to get key points across without revealing too much and hopefully inspiring people to want to watch it.

Let me know what you think. YouTube conversion has made some of it look darker than it should. I welcome any crits good or bad, gentle or harsh.
:)
hi, making trailers is in a art itself. Yours did the job, but could of been alot better. My advice is to watch as many trailers as you can, and look closely to some of the tricks they use.
One of the most important thing in film is the music, it sets the scene, the feel, and once you get that right, the rest should become easier. do a google search for "x ray dog" these guys soley make music for trailers. The prices are quite reasonable too. Once you get the right track, edit your cuts to the timing of the music.
Hope that helps!
Love the xray dog soundtracks - Can these be bought?
Agreed with the previous comment: your music is killing your film. I liked the 'dark' film noir shot though, but would have liked more of it. Even given that it is YouTube this shot looked fine.
Great site for music as referenced above: http://www.last.fm/group/X-Ray+Dog plus to download click on http://www.last.fm/download/ They've headed straight to my Favourites Music Possibilities Folder. - Karrie
I'd like to agree with the previous comments and add that I think you have something good here but it needs some work to be great. I love making trailers but they take a LOOOONG time to get right!
I suggest a faster pace. There are several clips that can be much shorter. Not all of them, because you need variety as well. The pace should pick up as it goes along. It should begin to overwhelm the viewer as it gets closer to the end. Synchronization of the ups and downs of the music with the images is essential. Here's a good Hollywood example of some of my points...

Don't be afraid of revealing too much. Studies have shown that the more the trailer gives away of the story the more likely people are to go see the movie. That's just a fact of human nature that we as filmmakers have to accept.
I also think that a good voice over might help with the pacing and drama of the trailer. Ahem! I humbly offer my services if you are so inclined! :D
Here's my audition clip...
Hi Guys,
Thanks so much for your feedback. Great advice. I believe I have a good film, but making a good trailer to give it justice is more of a challenge than I first thought. I'm going to find better music and work the images to the music rather than try to force the music to fit with the images.
Good voice Mike :) . I'm very tempted but have ran out of budget. :D
Hi,
Based on the feedback. I have updated the trailer with better music, done some slight trimming and moved 2 shots to match the new music. I hope it is a big improvement.

MUCH better! Nice and tight! So much better in fact that, as much as it pains me to say this, I no longer think that voice over is needed! :(
I do have a few nitpicky suggestions:
The first title should appear as the first low note sounds. It's coming in a little late for my taste.
I think the trailer may benefit from the addition of one more title during the part where we see the priest kneeling in front of the the altar. He is obviously soul-searching and I'd like to see a title that says something like, "A priest must confront his deepest fears" at that point.
Just after that, after the killer walks away from the dead woman we return to a shot of the priest, there is a quick zoom in and out that I find annoying, unnecessary and amateurish compared to the rest of the trailer.
Other than that I think it is now a much more powerful enticement to see your movie and I wish you much luck with it!!
Mike
Thanks Mike. I think the idea to have that extra title is a good one. I probably won't change the trailer until after the charity screening. but you brought up some good points.
Cheers
Alex
Any time!
Good luck with the screening. That's going to be nerve-wracking for you I know!
that 2nd atempt is much better, there still a few things id tweak. i just played a few tracks along side with it and it sounded great. id love to have a go at re-cutting it, could you uploiad the avi file, and ill have a go at somthing?
good look with the full movie
