Customers are experiencing damage to their displays on systems that have the SKY HD box connected to a TV set via the HDMI interface.

The advice that's being given is to use component, rather than HDMI until this is sorted out:

Reading the blog, I get the impression that nobody is actually claiming any DAMAGE results as a result of connection via HDMI - just intermittent error messages and/or failure to work. (Though component works OK.) Irritating, and needs to be sorted out, but maybe not quite as dramatic as initially thought?

If you look at what Pioneer is saying on the opening page under symptoms:

We have been and continue to be in regular communication with the technical personnel at Sky trying to resolve this issue, which can result in limited functionality of the HDMI input.

In corporate speak, that usually implies that after the problem your hdmi input will not work properly.

Hmmm, not quite how I read that - that "this issue" does indeed mean "limited functionality of the HDMI input" (ie. it doesn't work), but that doesn't necessarily imply that either device has been further affected in any way, or that either device didn't or won't in future work with any other third HDMI device.

Though reading further down the blog Pioneer do seem keen for everybody to stick with component for the time being, in spite of offers from people to try it and see. Which may well indicate damage is being caused..........
