Hello all,

I wondered if someone might be able to help me with a problem I have. I've just bought the Vinten Vision Blue tripod which I was hoping to use with my Canon 550D, but have just found that it of course has a plate designed for a video camera with two threads at the bottom and my camera only has one and won't fit. I've searched around the net and can't seem to find info on getting a DSLR onto a pro video plate. Does anyone know if there is a plate or adapter I can buy which I can slot onto this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Pete

Hi Peter. Looks like a great head for DSLRs from Vinten. From what I see, the cam plate has a slide in/out screw and pin plate combined. Is this not the item you would replace it with?

Thanks very much for the advice. I overlooked the obvious, that I just needed a new screw! I popped down to the Bristol Camera Shop and managed to pick up a Manfrotto screw which seems to fit. Cost me £10, but means I can get out and film some Red Deer today. I think I may have to think of a way to add some weight to this setup as the minimum weight is 2.1kg and I think my 550D plus 100-400 Canon L are only 1.9kg. I might just buy a cold shoe mount and strap a weight to it and put it on the top of the camera.

Many thanks again,

Pete
