I'm doing an event in a couple of weeks where we would like to have a working 90s style camcorder to use as a prop - actors will film guests on arrival and the footage will be relayed on screen. Ideally the camera will be quite large, shoulder mount would be good, or one of the boxy hi8 things, basically anything which will be obvious to guests.

We have almost no budget for this, ideally I'd like to borrow a camera (must have working composite output, if it records then that's a bonus) I'd be happy to pay for shipping and a token hire fee wouldn't be out of the question. Or if anyone has something they've been meaning to put in the skip then i'd be happy to dispose of it.

thanks
tom

Hi Tom,
I have an old HITACHI VHS camcorder when they came out. I have all the appliances. But i dont know if it works regards recording or playback.
Would that be of interest to you?

Tom, I have a old (must be) Sony V800 Hi8 c/w a probably duff battery but with the mains lead.  The camera works but recording shows a lot of dropouts so would not be good for that.  Don't know if it would show video if hooked up to a monitor/TV.

It's lying on the florr in the workroom destined for the dump when I have the opportunity to take it there.  If of any use it's yours or indeed anyone else who would want it.
