Hi,
Wanted to try something a bit more upbeat for a trailer.
Any comments appreciated.
Flame.
WOW! Excellent, Not sure if it would be good for winning clients IMHO but, a powerful piece nevertheless, love the soundtrack, where did you find it.
Recognised the couple. One of your previous postings? I bet the couple liked it.

Really, really nice work Flame - For me, lingering a tad more on a few of the beautiful shots would have excited me more, but I guess with pieces like this the edit can go on infinitum.
Hi, thx for comments. Its so difficult with these tracks to sometimes know when to cut and when to hold onto a particular shot.
love the soundtrack, where did you find it.
Hi Pete. I found this track in amongst a thousand other tracks i have in my collection, but where i originally got it from i cannot remember:confused:
Branny, thx for your feedback. I think I am going to go back to slow melodies after this one:D so much easier:)
I don't think this kind of work would ever convince someone to book me. But as a trailer hopefully it will have some use to draw them to my website...or maybe not:confused: ;)
Flame
Wow! I'm really impressed! I love it!
It's different enough to get attention while not so "out there" that it will turn people off. I don't know if every prospective client will understand that you are being somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but some will be hip enough to 'get it'. If I was looking to hire a wedding videog I'd bump you up on the list simply because that trailer shows a high level of a certain kind of hip sophistication that I like.
I loved it. Great stuff, and great care expended in its execution. The audio sync with the boquet throwing was superb, the crash zooms and camera movements brave and confident. There's only one little niggly bit that stays with me and shouldn't - and that's the speeded up 'ring a ring a roses'.
tom.
Quality work.
Quality and innovation together - expecting to see your name on some awards in the very near future!
Hey, thank you for all your comments and encouragement. I was not expecting such glowing comments!!!
Its allways difficult to know what to do and how to go about a particular edit, but if I can say one thing, all who have commented here have had an influence on me over the months since re joining this message board, and I don't think I could have pushed myself as much as I have if it was not for you.
You have all helped me.
Mike, you have been a real blessing to me!
Wicked, your comments have always been straight to the point and I thank you for that.
Barry, likewise I always appreciate your feedback.
Runaround who, thank you for all your support over the last few months.
Tom. You are almost poetic with your critique! so much technical knowledge!
The list goes on. Just want to say could not have done any of this without you.
Cheers,
Flame.:)
Its good well shot to music and things done to compliment the music, sounds movie like and am now expecting to see a release date.
How it fits in as a promo I don't know, but doing things like this and sharing them helps me and others no doubt to see the ideas that are out there.
I make similar ones during the quite period to practice my edit skills and see what I can do that is different from last year.
I too look forward to quiet periods to sharpen ideas. Any operator who sticks to the tried and trusted forever will find trade slumping.
Brides love the exciting and moody shots and punching the different moods of the day into razor sharp tracks that they wouldn't otherwise think of for their own soundtrack, can make a spectacular difference.
Though Flame has produced a stunner here, it will no doubt be replicated onto a few other operators showreels before the Spring.
Far better to keep new ideas under your hat till the start of the wedding season then 'Wow' the new brides before others dilute the style.

Pete - Think you will find the track (unless I am mistaken as it sounds the same to me) on this US wedding site http://encorepresentation.com/ where it is used for their home page. They might be able to help you with where it comes from as they are really friendly people. I am meeting up with them in Orlando at the
4evergroup convention in January - Karrie
Karrie,
Thanks for the soundtrack info, I will be contacting them soon.
What happened to the link??
Hi Ejder,
cheers

I wouldn't worry too much Flame. Not everyone is capable of copying your style and those that are capable probably have their own style ideas anyway. Some of us are off to Orlando to the 4ever group's convention and guess what? We will probably see some filming and editing ideas we might adapt in the name of continuing professional development and ... progress!

To Paraphrase: Talent borrows, genius steals outright!!!
Flame loved it, the pace is unrelenting, but the better for it.
I would have started slow and built the pace if I was to do a trailer, Now having seen yours I can see it works well being fast and furious with quick staright cuts. Thanks for the inspiration.
Now if someone could do a trailer with a voiceover man going "In a World....." :)
The genius that rebranded Graham Fentons showreel and played it at a Scottish wedding fair as his own was more the type of operator my comments were aimed at.
Though he wouldn't have had the inspired look on his face when Janet confronted him.
We all get inspired by different things MTV/Old movies etc; and I read that Speilberg always watches Frank Capras 'Wonderful Life' and others before he makes any movie.
Being inspired and 'adapting' in the name of progress is fine, but there are still those who would steal clips outright and paste them as their own work.
Though he wouldn't have had the inspired look on his face when Janet confronted him.
It would have been worth the admission price alone to see his face.
Your right Branny, you only have to look at the recent thread on copying peoples websites to see what happens
Yes but that just proves my point. He didn't have the talent to adapt the Fenton style and wouldn't have benefited from sharing good practice on a forum like this. Sometimes seeing something inspirational does nothing more than make one realise that it's time to get creative and that maybe those ideas you've been having should hit the decks. If we are all going to be hugging our ideas in a corner then there is no point to the forum. When a local company copied ideas for some of our directed shots we just realised we were doing something right and then extended the idea!

Good to see we agree on one thing.
I don't advocate secrecy - my clips are there for all to see via my profile.
Prior to web video, it was always 12 months or so before the competition caught up with the new ideas.
Nowadays I'd prefer to keep my new ideas under wraps until the Spring wedding shows.
That's just me of course and others will have their own recipe for success.
WHen they copy you, you know you have made it....
Oh if you put it like that Z, must phone you for my nephew's wedding on 29th February 2010 (expect you're not booked yet??!!) for a demo DVD! Haven't actually got a nephew but well ...
