Are there any dv updates needed for win2000 pro ie for win98se microsoft dv update , direct x8 + dv update etc , I've just updated to 2000 and the playback of dv seems to be sluggish and jerky much like that in win98 before you apply the updates .
Or maybe it's just me being stupid and tired ! any suggestions?

I use DX8 for Win 2K & DV Update, I doubt if it will fix your grey blocks problem. http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp

Hi penz,

Two things come to mind, firstly, if you are installing DirectX 8 or 8a for W2K, then install the same DV Updater for DirectX 8x as the one you installed for 98SE and secondly you could obtain W2K Service Pack 2 which amongst a substantial amount of fixes generally, contains several specific FireWire fixes and, supposedly, full Ultra-ATA/100 support.

I would have said you *should* obtain SP2 and install it but for some reason it is not obviously linked from Microsoft's site, they only mention SP1, but it is available for download from their site at http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000platform/sp/sp2/nt5/en-us/w2ksp2.exe

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

101MByte (its says as I download it) - a mere trifle!

Anyone downloaded the fully-Monty RT2000 upgrade?

According to DVC's latest newsletter, this is 231MByte for the RT2000 drivers plus another 100MByte for the new version of DVDit
you must use with it. Then there's Title Express and a new version of the DVD
player.

In total about three hours by ADSL, it seems.

I'm in the process of downloading the Win2K updater and it looks as though that's going to take abour 45mins - the net (or MS's site) is running a bit slow at the moment (about 39KByte/sec).

Finished downloading now.

Actually, two serious points:

1/ SP2 includes all the updaters from SP1

2/ There is now a good starting point on MS's site which lets you find out all about the updaters, and download them. It's at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/default.asp
