18 Titles to 18 Chapters

Friend has supplied a poorly authored dvd (in my opinion). It seems to have 18 TITLES rather than 1Title of 18 chapters.

My main gripe is that I cannot readily jump to 'next chapter' or 'previous chapter' whether played on a PC or domestic machine, and that when any chapter is playing one cannot even return to the main menu to choose another chapter.

Is there an easy way of tweaking the files to achieve this - ie one title divided into the 18 component chapters to aid navigation?

I don't know about an easy way, but you could capture to an editing program and re-encode as one title, then add chapters in a dvd authoring program.

Do you mean to run it in (in analogue) to Final Cut from a domestic player?

I always forget that this is possible and try and do everything from the desktop!

Hi
Bring the seperate tracks into your Mac with MPEG Streamclip squared5.com demuxing the audio into a seperate track, then use DVD SP to put all these assets into one chaptered continuous track, and reburn the DVD.

Or to use iDVD, use MPEG Streamclip to create DV stream files from the DVD, join them all up with iMove or QuickTime Pro, then send this to iDVD.
This way will degrade the movie quality, as you are recompressing the original MPEG-2 files.

Thanks, paul, I'd rather do this than run in a composite signal
