I need to install the above in a portable storage device (Nexdo ND 2730) and am wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a suitably reliable manufacturer....obviously I've looked on the web but would prefer a personal recommendation from some kind person on the forum as to the most reliable manufacturer of such items!!

Thanks!

Hi
That's a standard laptop drive size - apart from bigger (1TB etc) drives which are 12.5mm high.

Seagate, Hitachi and Western Digital make these drives.

Thanks, Paul....do I take it that the ones you have mentioned are all much of a muchness?...and therefore I should just buy on price, or is there in your opinion a pecking order?

There are no duffers really. I'd look for 7,200rpm if possible.

OK, guys, and thanks! I've been looking for a good card reader in the field for still shots storage and the Nexdo seems to get good write ups, but doesn't come with a Hard drive in the UK, although B and H have them.

Momentus XT - SSD Hybrid is the best laptop drive on the market currently

True SSD are faster but LOTS more expensive.

Thanks again, all for your help!!

Where did you order it from in the end?

Amazon seem quite cheap at £74.25 del: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=+ST9750420AS&x=0&y=0

I was thinking of replacing my MacBook Pro Hardrive as it's been running for three years now without a reformat, reinstall or anything. The jump to 750GB and 7200PRM together with a newer faster OS might be the speed boost I'm looking for, before I try a eSata RAID!

Hi Duncan,
Yes I got mine from Amazon, it actually came from "Bora computer GBR" and P and P was an extra £2.25.
Haven't tried it out yet, it'll only be used for storage for me as a photo backup in the field, as I said in the original post, but from other's comments I expect it would fit the bill for you!
Arrived the day after I ordered it!
